Vadim Ceban, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Moldovagaz", assures that the Republic of Moldova will not run out of gas

The Republic of Moldova will not be left without natural gas, says the head of MoldovaGaz Vadim Ceban. According to him, from the point of view of gas infrastructure, the country is ready, but the only difficulty would be the purchase price of natural gas from alternative sources. The statement was made during a TV8 show, Radio Moldova reports.

"Because we are witnessing the dynamic developments on the natural gas markets, especially in Europe, there is a shortage of natural gas, gas supplies through pipelines are low, but for the Republic of Moldova the gas infrastructure is ready. We have 4 interconnection points, we can receive gas from Romania, Ukraine, through the trans-Balkan pipeline, and, respectively, we are connected to certain possibilities of natural gas supply through the southern square. The first problem is the resource. Where will we get gas if we need an alternative and, respectively, at what price," explained Vadim Ceban.

According to Moldovagaz, the recent request submitted to the National Agency for Energy Regulation regarding the 45 percent increase of the natural gas tariff for final consumers is motivated by MoldovaGaz through high import costs. The price of the purchase of gas from Gazprom in August could increase, said Vadim Ceban.
