The Republic of Moldova wants a long-term contract with Romania regarding the supply of natural gas

The Republic of Moldova wants to sign a long-term contract with Romania regarding the supply of natural gas as soon as possible, as there are no other alternatives, said the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, in an interview for RFI Romania, Radio Moldova reports.

"It would be a lifeline for the Republic of Moldova for many, many years and it would practically break the last element of connection, which now holds us to the Russian Federation.  Respectively, we are ready to sign this contract at any moment is a response from our Romanian colleagues.  Mr. Ciucă spoke about the technical capacity of gas delivery on the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline.  These five million cubic meters of gas per day, if we multiply by the month, are exactly 150 million.  So, five million cubic meters per day from Romania would be more than enough for our country", said Andrei Spînu.

TRM.MD recalls that the Republic of Moldova has more than 53 million cubic meters of natural gas stored in reserves.

Previously, the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, stated that his country can offer the Republic of Moldova up to five million cubic meters of gas per day.
