The doctors treating Anatoli Ciubais do not rule out poisoning. "He can't close his eyes and his facial muscles are partially paralyzed"

Anatoli Ciubais is hospitalised in a private hospital in the north of Sardinia, and the Italian doctors treating the former advisor to Vladimir Putin do not rule out the possibility that he was poisoned and confirmed that Ciubais suffers from a rare neurological disease, informs the agency ANSA, quoted by the Moscow Times.

The team of Italian doctors confirmed that Anatoli Ciubais suffers from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare condition of the peripheral nervous system, caused by the immune system. The former Russian official, aged 67, underwent thorough medical tests, and their full results are still awaited, in order to clearly confirm whether or not it was a matter of poisoning in his case.

The causes that trigger Guillain-Barre syndrome are currently not fully known by scientists. In the case of those who suffer from this rare disease, the immune system attacks the nervous system, which leads to a pronounced weakening of the muscles and limbs and can cause paralysis, balance disorders, or poor coordination of movements. Medical recovery can take years.

"His condition is stable, but Anatoli Borisovici (Ciubais) is still in intensive care. He has difficulty moving his hands and feet, he cannot close his eyes and his facial muscles are partially paralyzed," said Ksenia Sobceak, a Russian TV presenter and political activist, who also shared a photo of the former Russian official on social media on the hospital bed.

Ciubais is protected by a "super escort" of private security agents guarding him at the private hospital in Olbia, Sardinia, where the former Russian official is currently hospitalised.

Anatoli Ciubais, former Russian deputy prime minister and former special adviser to Vladimir Putin, who left Russia under unclear circumstances in March, shortly after the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine, is said to have suddenly fallen ill and arrived at the end of last week to reanimation, and the Russian opponents do not exclude the possibility that he was poisoned, because he knows many secrets about the Russian leader.
