In the context of the worrying news about a possible military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Moldova’s president, Maia Sandu, came with a message addressed to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The head of state mentioned that the state institutions are ready to face any challenges and called for calm and solidarity.
"For Moldova, peace and stability in the region are very important. These days we are looking at Ukraine. We are deeply concerned about the tense situation on the border of the neighboring friendly country and the signals about a possible start of a military offensive in the coming days ", said the country's president, Maia Sandu.
According to the head of state, the Chisinau authorities are examining the development scenarios of the crisis and assessing the risks they pose. "State institutions are ready to intervene quickly to ensure the functioning of basic services for citizens and to ensure that the lives of our citizens are not endangered by the consequences of possible military action in the neighboring country. We are aware of the risks we could face in our country and we are ready to face them ", Maia Sandu said.
In this context, the President of the Republic of Moldova came with an appeal to the citizens, urging them to calm and solidarity. "I hope that tensions in the region will be managed through dialogue and diplomatic negotiations, because we know how high the price of war is. It's a price no country has to pay. Peace is the guarantee of the future of the region and of our country ", Maia Sandu said.
