Expert in international relations: EU will have to reach a consensus regarding Russian citizens who want to reach the member states
The 27 states of the European Union could finally reach a common position on restricting the access of Russian citizens to the EU, Miruna Troncota, expert in international relations from Bucharest, said during a program on Radio Moldova.
The expert also said that the decision already adopted by states such as the Baltic countries, Poland and Finland is justified.
"On the one hand, Russian citizens, who cannot be identified with politics, still have the right to settle in another country. There is, of course, the fear that some of these citizens or among them may also be agents, and then this measure is a security measure. It is difficult to make these predictions in the case of the European Union. We know well that there is no unitary foreign policy, even if many steps have been taken in this direction. All the member states have firmly shown their solidarity with Ukraine, but it is these nuances that the 27 states will have to discuss and reach a consensus. Usually, a consensus is reached in the European Union, but we will have to wait and see", said Miruna Troncota.
We remind you that after Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Baltic States, Poland, Finland has restricted access for Russian citizens, who are trying to avoid mobilization orders. Also, Germany and Hungary declare that they are open to accepting Russian citizens who want to leave their country.
