The simple motion against the Minister of Finance failed

The simple motion on the policies of the Ministry of Finance was rejected in today's plenary session.

After the speech of Minister Dumitru Budianschi, questions, debates and speeches of the representatives of the parliamentary factions, the majority of the deputies were against the motion.

In his plenary speech, the minister said that the economy of the Republic of Moldova is going through a difficult situation. There is a drastic inflation, in May it reached 29%. "Thus, a large part of the population of the Republic of Moldova can hardly cope with record prices, energy bills, communal services and significant increases in food prices. Under these conditions, the real incomes of the population decrease, and the businesses face multiple challenges," the minister remarked.

"It is better to resign yourself than to be ashamed. This is our advice. You have not done anything good, at least you are not doing them any harm to the people," said in his speech the socialist deputy Petru Burduja. In reply, the minister said that "a resignation at the request of the socialists cannot be honourable".

The simple motion was tabled by 26 deputies from the parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. According to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, simple motions are adopted with the vote of the majority of the deputies present.
