Nicu Popescu: Russian missile attacks, which also caused power outages in the Republic of Moldova, could trigger a humanitarian crisis

Yesterday's missile attacks by Russian troops in Ukraine, which also caused power outages in the Republic of Moldova, could trigger a humanitarian crisis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, told the BBC. The official also said that yesterday 90% of the territory of the Republic of Moldova remained without electricity, and a large part of the electricity supply was resumed, reports Radio Moldova.

According to the official, this has serious implications in almost all aspects, in the context in which, public transport in the capital was disrupted, people could no longer get home, because most of the vehicles are electric trolleybuses. Also, the drinking water supply was affected due to the power cut, so the lack of electricity has a serious impact on the lives of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, concluded Nicu Popescu.
