The Prime Minister, about the new natural gas tariff approved by ANRE: "It really is an exorbitant price"

Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa declared that the new tariff approved by ANRE for natural gas is exorbitant. The statement was made during a press conference held with the General Secretary of the Government, Dumitru Udrea, in Cahul. According to the prime minister, this year, the Executive will come up with aid programs for citizens.

"We see that prices are rising internationally, but at the same time we realise that there is a limit to how much people can afford. That is why the Government comes up with these programs to help people. Last year, we allocated around 1.7 billion lei for households and over 600 million lei for entrepreneurs, to compensate for the increase in gas and thermal energy tariffs. This year we are working on the energy vulnerability program and we will examine the possibilities of financially supporting people to pay their bills".

However, Natalia Gavriliţa urges Moldovans to be in solidarity and save natural gas.

"At the same time, the heating season has not started, we have these high purchase costs, we are waiting for October 1st to switch to a new calculation formula and to offer us an advantageous price. We follow the international markets, but I urge everyone to be in solidarity and to concern ourselves with energy efficiency. We are doing everything possible to have alternatives to natural gas, we are switching thermoelectricity to fuel oil, but it is really an exorbitant price".

According to her, at the beginning of October, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection will present the compensation mechanism for the population.
