Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch, ends his four-year mandate

The Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch, ends his mandate as Head of Mission and OSCE mediator in the Transnistrian settlement process. According to the official, maintaining peace and stability on both banks of the Nistru is what matters in the coming days, weeks and months.

"Maintaining peace and stability on both banks of the Nistru is what will matter in the coming days, weeks and months, and I am confident that the Mission will continue to provide its outstanding contribution to this process. I wish my successor, the parties and the people on both banks of the Nistru River all possible success in the most important endeavors of these times: maintaining peace and stability," said Neukirch.

The main priority of the OSCE Mission in Moldova is to contribute to the achievement of a lasting and comprehensive political solution to the Transnistrian conflict, based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders, with a special status for  the transnistrian region.

The mandate of the OSCE Mission to Moldova is approved and renewed every year by all 57 OSCE participating states, including the Republic of Moldova.
