The bust of Stephen the Great, inaugurated in Lipnic, Ocnita district
The bust of Stephen the Great and Saint was inaugurated on Saturday, in Lipnic, Ocniţa district. The event was also attended by the president of the Iaşi County Council, Costel Alexe. He wrote on his Facebook page that "such symbols are essential to keep history alive, to protect our identity and values."
According to the chronicles, the battle of Lipnic in 1470 was the only battle fought by Stephen the Great within the territory of the Republic of Moldova today, being crowned with one of his most resounding victories.
We remind you that, on July 2, 518 years have passed since the passing into eternity of the ruler Stephen the Great and Saint.
