Two police officers from Chisinau, sentenced to 5 years in prison for acts of corruption
Two police officers from the Râşcani Police Inspectorate, Chisinau municipality, were sentenced to 5 years in prison for passive corruption. At the same time, a fine of 300,000 lei was imposed on the two police officers, as well as a complementary penalty in the form of deprivation of the right to hold public office for a period of 7 years.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office, on May 20, 2020, the two policemen, taking advantage of the restrictions imposed in connection with the state of emergency declared for the period May 16 - June 30, 2020, according to which it was forbidden to be in public places (forests, parks, alleys, beaches, etc. .) in groups of more than 3 people, they demanded 100 euros from a man who violated this restriction in order not to draw up a criminal report and not to hold him accountable for the act committed.
The sentence is not final and can be challenged within 15 days to the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
