The Zoo will resume free excursions for children from needy families

At Chisinau Zoo, free excursions for children from socially vulnerable families will resume, starting in September. For scheduling, group representatives must contact the garden administration in advance. "A group can have around 50-60 people. And we organise the guides", Olga Iuzvac, head of the scientific-educational section of the Zoo, told IPN.

Guides tell children about the world of wild animals. "We tell the children about the animals in our collection: about the history, the name, how it came to us, what is the character, the specifics of the maintenance at the Zoo and in nature. We are trying to promote the important message of preserving nature", said Olga Iuzvac.

At the Chisinau Zoo, there are around 1,100 animals and birds, which has over 130 species. "We've been planning the problems for years, but we can't do it right now because of the border issues. Now we must not think about how the animals will winter, for whom and what we can build. In addition, we want to transfer the tigress to another aviary, because it is now also very small", said Ana Śvedcenco, deputy director for the zoo-veterinary sector.

The municipal enterprise "Zoo" is the only specialised institution in the country, being a true centre of studies and research, training and education, rest and agreement.
