Following the heavy rains, dozens of trees felled, and three localities were left without electricity

In the evening of August 9, the employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations were requested to intervene in the pumping of water and the clearing of fallen trees following heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, three localities in the UTAG Găgăuzia and Cantemir districts remain partially disconnected from electricity.

According to the information collected from the subdivisions of the institution, firefighters from Chisinau municipality cleared trees and branches at several addresses in the capital. On Iazului street no. 2/4, IGSU employees pumped water from a basement of an apartment building. The intervention of specialists was also needed in the Grătiesti locality of the municipality, after a branch fell on a gas pipe from 31 Bogdan Petriceicu Haşdeu street.

On Kyiv Street 12 in the capital, the rescuers had the mission of clearing a tree that fell on top of a car. No casualties were recorded as a result of the incident. Tree clearance was also carried out on Matei Basarab, Mihail Sadoveanu and Bogdan Voievod streets in the capital. In Comrat, rescuers from the south of the country had the mission of clearing a tree that had fallen over a gas pipeline.

According to the information received from the electricity suppliers, due to unfavourable weather conditions in the evening of August 9, consumers from 18 localities of the districts of Străşeni, Anenii Noi, Hâncesti, UTAG Găgăuzia, Cantemir, Cimişlia, Leova, and the municipality of Chişinău remained partially disconnected. 

In the morning of August 10, 3 localities in the UTAG Găgăuzia and Cantemir districts remain partially disconnected from electricity. Specialised teams are working to restore electricity to consumers in the field.
