Interior Minister calls for prosecution of several judges and prosecutors

Interior Minister Andrei Năstase asked the Prosecutor General's Office to initiate criminal prosecution procedures against several judges and prosecutors, accusing them of corruption, Mesager reports.

In a request to the General Prosecutor's Office Năstase accuses judges Radu Ţurcanu, Luiza Gafton, Viorica Mihăila, Vitalie Zaporojan and Igor Mânscurta from issuing court orders considered as part of the "money laundering offenses through the judicial and banking system of Republic of Moldova ".

Nastase also said that the acting head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Adriana Betisor, knew about illegalities, but she did not take any action.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office issued a statement rejecting allegations and announced that it would initiate an internal investigation.
