Minister of Education: "We want to offer students higher quality education" (VIDEO)

The Minister of Education, Anatolie Topală, reported that the reorganisation process of higher education institutions is necessary to increase the quality of studies, but also in order to modernise the university infrastructure. The statement was made during an interview for Moldova 1.

"We want to offer students higher quality education, so we aim to modernise universities and strengthen them so that we have large universities that can offer a wide range of specialties useful for our young people."

At the same time, the Minister of Education specified the benefits for both students and teachers.

"As a system, we want strong universities that are better positioned in the international rankings with a wide range of quality specialties. For students there will be more relevant and prepared studies with top level teams and they will get a diploma with a higher weight. The modernization of the infrastructure will also allow them to benefit from equipped laboratories, better conditions in dormitories and gyms. Universities will be able to concentrate more funding for education and research and less will be used for administrations by concentrating these resources," said Anatolie Topală.

TRM.MD recalls that several higher education institutions will be merged. According to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Research, the State University of Moldova is reorganised through the absorption of the Academy of Public Administration, the State University of Physical Education and Sports. The Agrarian University will be absorbed by the Technical University. The Academy of Economic Studies is reorganised by the absorption of the National Institute of Economic Research. And the State Pedagogical University "Ion Creanga" is reorganised by the absorption of the State University of Tiraspol and the State University "Grigorii Ţamblac" of Taraclia.
