Prosecutor Iulia Popov has been suspended from office (VIDEO)
Prosecutor Yulia Popov, the wife of former deputy prosecutor general Ruslan Popov, has been suspended. The decision was approved today by the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). The subject was examined by the CSP behind closed doors, and the approach was submitted by the interim head of the General Prosecutor's Office, Dumitru Robu.
"The Superior Council of Prosecutors has decided to accept the request of the interim general prosecutor and to release the agreement in order to suspend the prosecutor from the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office Iulia Popov", says Angela Motuzoc, president of the CSP.
Iulia Popov has been working for the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office since September 2020. Her husband, Ruslan Popov, is currently under criminal investigation for illicit enrichment and false statements, in which Iulia Popov has the status of an accomplice.
