Moldovan football community in solidarity with Ukrainian refugees (VIDEO)

"Football for PEACE" was the slogan under which the football community in our country organised a new social and sports activity for refugee children in Ukraine. The action is intended to contribute to their educational integration in the Republic of Moldova, Moldova 1 reports.

The Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) organised a fun training session for about 50 refugee children at the "Zimbru" Football Academy in the capital. The little ones, together with their parents, participated in various sports relays with football elements, which stimulate communication, form a team spirit and help to establish friendships.

The purpose of this action is to promote a healthy lifestyle and football as a social, emotional and psychological counselling tool for those suffering from war.

The event was well run by Grassroots FMF project managers Diana Bulgaru and Cristina Braga, as well as a team of volunteers.

"We are very happy that this time too we managed to organise an event for refugee children. We're glad we can put a smile on their face. It is an event of the Moldovan Football Federation, in collaboration with UNICEF. Within it, the children received sports inventory, equipment, which will allow them to practise sports in the coming days. We will organise such events weekly at several refugee centres," said Cristina Braga.

At the end, each child received sports equipment and gifts.
