Half of the transfers from abroad are from the EU

In the first ten months of this year, the total volume of money transfers from abroad in favor of individuals from Moldova amounted to 1013.39 million dollars, by 5% less than in the same period of the previous year, IPN reports.

In October, licensed banks transferred $ 110.44 million in net assets. Half of the transfers come from the European Union, just over 21% are from the CIS and almost 29% are from the rest of the world.

According to the data of the National Bank of Moldova , the transfers from Russia account for 20.2% ($ 22.26 million) of the total. Transfers from Israel account for 17% ($ 18.82 million), from Italy - 12.1% ($ 13.32 million), from Germany - 9.1% ($ 10.06 million), from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 8.4% ($ 9.18 million), the US - 6.7% ($ 7.44 million), etc.

Transfers in  euro were 56.1% (up by 7.2 percentage points compared to October 2018). These are followed by transfers in US dollars - 40.2% (by 4.1 percentage points down) and those in Russian rubles - 3.7% (down by 3.1 percentage points).

In October 2019, compared to the same period of the previous year, fluctuations in the exchange rate of currencies against the US dollar contributed by 2.3 percentage points to the total decrease in the value of foreign transfers in favor of individuals.
