The coronavirus pandemic is affecting the economy of the Republic of Moldova

The economy of the Republic of Moldova will suffer a lot because of the COVID-19 virus. It is the opinion of some economic experts exposed in a press conference organized by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms. According to experts, if the responsible institutions take the necessary measures, they will overcome this situation, reports Moldova 1.

The president of the Moldovan employers, claims that most of the employers send the employees into technical unemployment, thus making certain savings.

"Employers use those tools that are more convenient and are far from saying that being more convenient does not mean cheaper. They are trying to apply those measures that will allow them to reach the end of this situation with minimal losses. A good number of them collided with the situation of economic reduction of the flow of goods, of stopping the flow of goods, the vast majority apply the technical unemployment, which is cheaper for them,” said Vladislav Caminschi, president of the Moldovan Employers' Association.

Experts say that the Executive should, immediately after the emergency, come up with a plan of measures to restore the economy.

"We will reach a time when the state will become more important than the private sector. Because we have the understanding that after the pandemic the consumption will decrease, and if the consumption decreases and the real sector will decrease, because the consumer will reduce his appetite, the state will be the one who will consume the most, the one who will initiate the economic processes,” said Dumitru Vicol, economic expert.

Earlier, the World Trade Organization had forecast that the volume of world trade would decrease by up to 32 percent due to pandemic restrictions. The management of the organization states that the countries of the world must be supportive and cooperate internationally because no state is sufficiently prepared to fight coronavirus.
