Maia Sandu at "Moldova Live": Justice reform, a priority of my term as president

The mandate given by the citizens is a very strong one, given especially for the fight against corruption. The statement belongs to the elected President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and was made this evening during the show "Moldova Live" on the public television station Moldova 1.

Maia Sandu promises to implement a true justice reform, supported by all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, so that honest people are promoted to the positions of prosecutors and judges.

"Justice reform, as we propose it, is supported by absolutely all citizens of the Republic of Moldova. It has a simple concept, which is based on two criteria. One - the wealth that each of them has. To prove that she was legally won. And two - the decisions they made. If, for example, they canceled the election, released thieves from prison, these people cannot pass this assessment. When we apply these two simple evaluation criteria, we clean the judiciary and the prosecutor's office of vulnerable and corrupt people," Maia Sandu also mentioned.

In this context, Maia Sandu referred to the Strategy for ensuring independence and integrity in the justice sector for 2021-2024, approved today by the Parliament, which aims, according to the authors of the bill, to improve the justice sector by creating the premises for an independent, impartial, responsible and efficient justice sector.

"What the deputies voted for today is a strategy that means nothing, it is a paper that does not imply a real reform. We will insist on a real reform, which every citizen of the Republic of Moldova wants. And if we have the support of the citizens, we will certainly implement it," added Maia Sandu.

She believes that the current government must complete the draft budget and then trigger early parliamentary elections so that citizens could have the opportunity to vote for honest people in parliament.

"The fact that the government and this parliament must leave is not new. This government must complete the draft budget and then go to early elections. People want to get rid of a parliament in which there are deputies who have already changed the third party, who oppose the fight against corruption, the reform of the judiciary. I am sure that we will be able to trigger the dissolution of the parliament and early elections," also declared the elected president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

During the show, Maia Sandu also referred to resonant files, such as the "theft of the billion" or the "laundromat" case. According to her, in this mandate, she will use the Supreme Security Council to boost things on this segment. At the same time, Maia Sandu declares that she will promote a team to monitor these files, but also others of resonance, in the prosecutor's office, but also in the courts, when they arrive.

Maia Sandu declared herself open for communication, and on Monday, November 30, she will organize a discussion session with journalists.
