13 rescuers became SMURD paramedics
Thirteen rescuers from the Rescue Search Unit No. 1 in Chisinau became paramedics of the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD). IGSU employees attended a 6-week training for paramedics.
The rescuers had the qualification exam before a committee made up of IGSU officials and representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
Rescuers have been taught how to provide aid in the event of cardiac arrest, fractures, burns, intoxication, politraumatism, hypo and hyperglycemia, falls from a height, and electrocution. They will work as paramedics in the intervention teams after they attend a practical course at the Iasi Emergency Situations Inspectorate. According to the IGSU, there are 119 SMURD paramedics in Moldova and they are involved in assisting people in the north and south of the country.
Over 14,000 people received first aid in risk situations since the launch of the Mobile Emergency Service of Resuscitation and Extrication in Moldova.
