Site Administrator, penalized for corruption of voters

A resident of the capital was found guilty of violating the law being fined 20,000 lei, but also the confiscation of goods used to commit the crime, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General's Office announces that on May 20, 2015, the defendant purchased the domain alegerimoldova.com for a year, indicating false contact data. It has created a web-based platform for voters registered on the site to vote for a particular candidate in local elections that year.

It provided site users with the full anonymity and security of the unlawful actions they were about to commit. Two days before the date of the local elections, the platform administrator would send the voters via email a letter with the candidate's data for which they would vote. Later, the voter had to photograph the ballot according to the instructions and hand it to the defendant, who promised them, 50 lei for each uploaded ballot.

The defendant also urged representatives of political parties and local election candidates to procure voters' votes in advance to obtain a 20% commission. The 29-year-old defendant is not employed, and when being heard by prosecutors, he pleaded not guilty. The sentence has the right to appeal.
