EBU Journalists Discuss AI, Fact-Checking, and the Future of Public Media in Chişinău
The EBU News Contacts Meeting 2025, hosted by Teleradio-Moldova (TRM), continues today in Chişinău with an agenda focused on some of the most pressing issues facing public service journalism: artificial intelligence, fact-checking, and newsroom collaboration in delivering trustworthy content in an increasingly complex media environment.
This morning, participants took part in parallel sessions dedicated to sports journalism, media rights acquisitions, and presentations from the TRM team. Among the speakers were representatives from EBU Sport, UEFA, and editorial teams from Estonia and the Republic of Moldova.
Later in the day, discussions turned to the role of data in content management, its impact on collaboration within the EBU network, and how it shapes each member's editorial contribution.
The highlight of the day is a session on integrating artificial intelligence into newsrooms and using OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) tools to counter disinformation. Experts from Radio France, RTVE, RTBF, the Eurovision Social Newswire, and the EBU team are leading a live demonstration on how real-time fact-checking works with the support of emerging technologies.
The final session will provide space for questions, suggestions, and shared reflections in a direct dialogue with EBU representatives and the Editorial Subcommittee.
“In an increasingly interconnected world, we must take steps to strengthen and deepen partnerships with peer organizations in order to remain relevant and deliver timely, first-hand information. We are honored to host the EBU News Contacts Meeting 2025 in Chişinău. The choice of the Republic of Moldova reflects international recognition of the progress we’ve made in developing quality public journalism. This is a valuable opportunity to share experiences, strengthen cooperation between EBU newsrooms, and show that Moldova is a trusted partner in the European media space,” said Andrei Zapşa, TRM Deputy Director General for Development.
