More closed rehearsals and less filming zones: the changes announced by Eurovision 2025 organizers

On 10 December, EBU announced a series of changes for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, aimed to ensure a positive experience for contestants and delegations throughout their stay in Basel.

The organizers decided to increase the number of closed rehearsals, giving artists the opportunity to focus more effectively on their performance.

For the first time, the agreement to abide by the ESC’s code of conduct will be a requirement for accreditation to the event. The code sets out requirements for professional behaviour, fair competition and responsible communication during the music competition.

In the context of these changes, Martin Green, ESC director, says: "We are United By Music, it's everyone's duty to ensure that the Eurovision Song Contest remains an event that promotes unity, diversity and inclusion."

Bakel Walden, the president of Reference ESC Group, declared that: "This new measure represents a first step to ensure a responsible development of this emblematic music event."

Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in the Swiss city of Basel, between 13-17 May. Last year, Nemo won the contest with his song The Code. It is the third victory of Switzerland in the music contest.
