Animal breeders will benefit from subsidies per capita

Animal breeders will benefit from direct payments per animal. Payment is to be made once a year through the Agricultural Intervention and Payment Agency (AIPA). A decision in this regard was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers today, November 18.

According to the Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Ion Perju, this aims to revitalize the livestock sector, increase average productivity per farm, and improve living standards in rural areas.

Thus, according to a bill, direct payments per head of animal will be granted to owners of cattle, sheep and goats.

"Animals registered and exploited in zootechnical farms located outside the built-up area, farms at least 12 months old, maintained in a herd of at least ten heads of cows and heifers, 50 heads of sheep and sheep specialized in the production of milk, 30 heads of sheep and sheep specialized in meat production, 30 heads of goats," the bill reads.

Ion Perju also mentioned that the value of the direct payment granted to an agricultural producer for each animal head will be established according to the species and category of the animal.
