CSE ordered the extension of the environmental authorization for the Râbniţa Metallurgical Plant
The environmental authorization for the Râbniţa Metallurgical Plant has been extended until the current October 31. The decision was made by a decision of the Emergency Situation Commission (CSE) and allows the plant on the left of the Dniester, managed by the separatist regime, to activate and import scrap metal from the European Union for another month.
The decision was adopted by way of derogation from the Law on the protection of the environment. In turn, the Environmental Agency, at the request of the metallurgical plant, will make the necessary entries on the environmental authorization regarding waste management.
The CSE, which during the state of emergency can bypass certain legal procedures, motivates its decision by the need to "ensure the continuity of the Râbniţa Plant's activity".
According to anticorruptie.md, the plant is one of the biggest contributors to the secessionist region's budget. According to a report by the so-called Ministry of Economic Development of Transnistria, at the end of 2021, the sales of the Moldovan Metallurgical Plant were over $432 million - almost half of the separatist region's total exports.
Like other companies registered in the Transnistrian region, the factory in Râbniţa does not pay taxes or customs duties to the budget of the Republic of Moldova.
