As of today, the Republic of Moldova imports gas approximately 40% cheaper
The Republic of Moldova imports gas from today approximately 40 percent cheaper than in September, but receives only 70 percent of the required volume, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu announced during a press conference, Radio Moldova reports.
However, Andrei Spînu specified that for now, at least, the tariff for consumers will remain unchanged, because in the last months they paid less than the purchase price of the gas and financial deviations were formed.
Andrei Spînu stated, however, that for unclear reasons, Gazprom supplies only 70% of the gas volumes stipulated in the contract. Moldovagaz asked the Russian giant to respect its commitments.
"The situation from October last year is being repeated, when deliveries were limited by 30%. The difference this year, compared to last year, is that this year we have a signed contract, which must be respected", declared the minister.
Andrei Spînu assures us that for the next few weeks the delivered volume is sufficient, in addition, the Republic of Moldova has stored over 50 million cubic metres of gas in warehouses in Romania and Ukraine.
Referring to electricity, Andrei Spînu specified that the Republic of Moldova will continue to procure approximately 2/3 of what is needed from the Cuciurgan Power Plant, and the rest from two companies in Ukraine. In addition, he specified that our country signed a contract for the supply of electricity in emergency situations with Romania and Ukraine.
"Energocom has already contracted 53.5 million cubic metres of gas in stock. Next week this gas will be stored in Ukraine and Romania", the Minister of Infrastructure also mentioned.
TRM.MD recalls that until yesterday the situation related to gas deliveries by Gazprom was uncertain because the Russian company had not confirmed their continuation in October.
