Gazprom reduces natural gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova by 56.5% in December

Natural gas deliveries from SAP "Gazprom" to the Republic of Moldova will be reduced by 56.5%, starting from December 1, this year. The information was confirmed by the state secretary in the energy field, Constantin Borosan.

"Currently the used transport capacities are those reserved for the annual tender. Thus, starting from December 1, 2022, natural gas deliveries from SAP "Gazprom" to the Republic of Moldova will be reduced by 56.5% in December 2022, based on the volume of natural gas coordinated by SA "Moldovagaz" and SAP "Gazprom" for December according to the natural gas supply contract (189 million m³ - right bank and 217 million m³ - left bank)", declared Constantin Borosan.

According to the official, at the tender for the reservation of the monthly natural gas transport capacity held on Monday, November 21, by the Оператор ГТС України at the interconnection points between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, PI Grebeniki and PI Oleksiivka, no additional transport capacities were reserved.

"At the moment, SAP "Gazprom" has reserved only annual firm daily capacities at Оператор ГТС України for the period October 2022 - September 2023 in the amount of 5.7 million m³/day, of which for PI Oleksiivka - 1.2 million m³ /day and for PI Grebeniki - 4.5 million m³/day", said the State Secretary Constantin Borosan.

Radu Marian, the deputy of the ruling party, Action and Solidarity, came with a reaction. According to him, "the energy blockade of the Kremlin against the Republic of Moldova continues". The deputy assures that the Chisinau government is ready to deal with a smaller volume of Russian gas delivered to our country.

"In December 2022, Gazprom will deliver 56.5% less gas than specified in the contract. Of course, this will also complicate the production of electricity at MGRES for the Republic of Moldova. (…) The government has prepared for this scenario, we have enough alternative fuels and natural gas reserves. It will be hard, but we will come out of this winter much stronger", wrote Radu Marian on his Telegram account.

We remind you that, in November, the Russian concern Gazprom supplied the Republic of Moldova with a total volume of 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day, which was 60 percent less than the required amount of the country.
