Local drug manufacturers will be able to import raw materials, packaging and materials through a simpler procedure
Importing raw materials, packaging and materials by local drug manufacturers will be simplified. Deputies approved in the first reading a project to amend the Fiscal Code, the Law on the customs tariff and the Law on pharmaceutical activity.
The authors of the draft law propose the granting of exemptions related to the import of raw materials, materials and packaging, based on the import authorization issued by the regulator of the field of medicine - the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, without the need for an additional list, established by Government Decision.
The MPs argue their legislative initiative by the fact that local drug manufacturers are faced with excessive requests for import authorizations, which constitutes an abuse and brings significant damages. "It happens that a type of medicine produced by a domestic company can cost several times more than the same type produced abroad", explained Adrian Belîi. The deputy also said that, in the process of drafting the law, representatives of the business environment were consulted on the parliamentary platform. According to the lawmaker, the implementation of the project will have a positive effect on the quality and the export capacity of medicines produced in the Republic of Moldova.
The initiative is to be debated in the second reading.
