Tiraspol wants money for the import of electricity from Romania by the Republic of Moldova
The alleged authorities from Tiraspol want to charge a tax for the import of electricity from Romania by the Republic of Moldova, given that the electricity comes from the energy node from Cuciurgan, reports bani.md.
According to the energy expert Sergiu Tofilat, the problem of Tiraspol is that without free gas and without the export of energy, it has no money to pay pensions and salaries, given that half of the budget represents the proceeds from the sale of the right bank electricity. They can last without money for a maximum of two months.
"Since March, we have synchronised with ENTSO-E. Yes indeed technically they have some higher energy losses, but if they want a payment for the transit of energy they must show some figures and some measurements. They can technically disconnect the two lines coming from Cuciurgan through which Moldova imports electricity from Romania. It is worse if Putin's army will bomb the line from the north of the country Novodnestrovsk - Balti (330 KW). Or, by destroying the line, Putin wants to increase the negotiating power of Tiraspol'', explains economic expert Sergiu Tofilat.
In Sergiu Tofilat's opinion, a solution would be for Chisinau to deliver the additional amount they need to deliver energy to the right bank.
The Republic of Moldova is facing an unprecedented energy crisis following the suspension of deliveries by the Cuciurgan plant. Over 90 percent of the electricity is procured from Romania. The rest of the electricity is bought from the Romanian OPCOM stock exchange at prices that reach 380 euros per MW/h.
