Moldovan wines on the Asian market
Thanks to a project that connected 35 wine companies to the European Cultural Route "Iter Vitis", Moldovan wines have become better known not only in Europe but also in Asia. In 2021 alone, our products have won over 1,200 medals at prestigious international competitions. At the same time, despite the pandemic, last year about one hundred thousand tourists visited the wineries in Moldova, Mesager reports.
"This is where the magic will happen where the grape juice will turn into wine. The wines we produce, 75 percent, we export. The geography is vast, from the Land of the Rising Sun, South Korea, Japan, to Canada, we have 12 countries where we export ", said Ion Luca, winemaker.
For four generations, the Luca family has been dedicated to the wine industry. However, it was not until 2011 that they managed to open a family winery. Today, Ion Luca is the winemaker and administrator who oversees all cycles of the wine business.
"Last year we won over a hundred international medals for our wines. Tourism increases sales, not only on the day the tourist came and enjoyed some wines, but if he liked history, he liked wine. That remains a lifelong customer. Because tomorrow he will not be with us at the winery, but he can find our wine on the shelf at the supermarket ", says Ion Luca.
Our country currently exports wines to 71 world countries.
"We have strategic countries, target: Romania, market no. 1, in value and volume, Poland, Great Britain, Scandinavian countries, Nordic countries, Holland, China, which is a strategic country. We collaborate a lot with the international media, we organize tours to promote this cultural wine heritage, we organize working visits of importers ", says Parascovia Ignat, head of department within ONVV.
According to the data of the National Office of Vine and Wine, last year wine products worth over 29 billion lei were exported and is one of the best results of the last ten years. Currently, about 200 wineries are registered in the wine register.
