Cases of COVID-19 contamination in dozens of schools in Berlin

Cases of contamination with the new Coronavirus have been reported in at least 41 schools in Berlin, less than two weeks after the 825 schools in the German capital were reopened, reports The Guardian, quoted by news.ro.

The announcement by the education authorities in the city of Berlin that hundreds of students and teachers had to be quarantined shows once again how little is known about the risk of infection in the school environment, despite the insistence of governments and experts, including in Great Britain, to reopen schools, in compliance with safety measures.

According to Berlin reports, all age groups have been affected, including elementary schools, high schools and vocational schools.

Berlin was one of the first places in Germany to reopen its schools after the summer holidays. Children are required to wear masks in the hallways, during breaks and when they enter the classroom, but they can take them off once they are in their seats and start classes. Some critics say that the measures in Berlin are too relaxed and both students and teachers should wear masks during lessons.
