Massive protests in Amsterdam after the introduction of new anti-COVID restrictions

Although a new wave of COVID caused by Omicron is crossing Europe, people no longer want isolation. Massive protests have taken place in Amsterdam over the new quarantine measures. The United Kingdom has resigned to a record number of infections, more than 162,000, and no new restrictions. Israel is stepping up its vaccination campaign and approving the fourth dose of vaccine for those over 60 and medical staff, Moldova 1 reports.

At least 30 people were arrested during a protest against health restrictions in Amsterdam, where thousands of people gathered. Because they did not wear a protective mask and violated the rules of physical distance, the police were allowed to intervene by force.

In the Netherlands, the restrictions have been in place since November and have been tightened over the holidays. All non-essential shops were closed, as were restaurants, museums, theaters and cinemas.

Despite the high number of COVID-19 cases, the UK is reopening schools, but the protective mask will be mandatory.

"I think it should give the children a choice. If they are not old enough to make certain decisions, then why are certain obligations imposed on them. Personally, I don't think it's fair";

"I think it's a good idea, as long as it makes us safe," people said.

France has reduced the deadline for administering the booster dose to four months and wants to extend its health passport. Unvaccinated people over the age of 12 will no longer have access to restaurants, bars or other leisure facilities unless they are immunized.

Overseas, health officials say they are facing an increase in the number of contaminants among adolescents and young children. Infection rates are more than eight times higher than a month ago.
