PACE recognizes Russia as a terrorist state and demands the set up of an international court
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) recognized Russia as a terrorist state by adopting a resolution entitled "Ongoing escalation in Russian aggression against Ukraine", which declares the Russian Federation a terrorist regime.
99 members of the assembly voted for the resolution and one abstained. Ukrainian parliamentarian Oleksii Gonciarenko and the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption in Ukraine reported the information. Gonciarenko is a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is an interparliamentary assembly of legislators from 46 member states. The resolution also requires states to provide Ukraine with anti-aircraft defense systems and calls Russia's presence in the UN Security Council illegal. President Volodymyr Zelenski also spoke during the plenary session.
The resolution also calls for the creation of an international court. Zelenskiy said that Europe "can play a historic role in the creation of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Russian Aggression against Ukraine. Let's do it! This will be the best way to protect the principles of international law," according to Interfax.
