Zelenski: Russian troops in Transnistria are constantly waiting for a marching order
Kiev accuses Moscow of trying to destabilize Transnistria after several blasts that sparked fears that war will come over Moldova. PUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Russia tries to lure Transnistria into its war.
„This is another one of the steps planned by the Russian Federation. Their special services worked there and it’s not just for the sake of fake news. It is clear why: he wants to destabilize the situation in the region, to threaten Moldova, showing him what will happen if Moldova continues to support Ukraine”, said Zelenski .
„As for the Russian troops permanently present on the territory of the temporarily occupied region of Moldova, Transnistria, we have known for many years that they are constantly waiting for a marching order. But we know their size and the Ukrainian armed forces are ready to face them. Don’t be afraid of them”, he continued, digi24 reports.
In the separatist region of Transnistria, three explosions took place on Tuesday, which, according to the Chisinau government, hide challenges aimed at destabilizing the situation in this region and drawing it into the war in Ukraine, Agerpres reports.
Instead, in Tiraspol, the “capital” of the self-proclaimed pro-Russian republic, separatist leader Vadim Krasnoselski accused Ukraine of being responsible for the attacks.
Zelensky also said that Russia’s goals go beyond its current war against Ukraine.
The ultimate goal of Russia’s leadership is not just to conquer the territory of Ukraine, but to dismantle the entire center and east of Europe and deal a global blow to democracy, “he said.
A “global blow to democracy” is one of Moscow’s goals, insisted the Ukrainian president, who added that in the “free world”, virtually everyone understood that the invasion of Ukraine was just the beginning.
