Ministry of Economy: "The Republic of Moldova has sufficient salt stocks"

The Ministry of Economy confirms that the Republic of Moldova has sufficient salt stocks. In January and February, more than a thousand tons of food salt (iodine and non-iodine) were imported. Salt importers have confirmed that there is no problem with Moldova's domestic demand for this product.

Although the salt is mainly imported from Ukraine (85%), the product is brought to the country from other markets, including Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Italy, the ministry said.

"Artificial panic and slower adaptation to changes in demand for supply chains are causing some temporary distortions in supply,"reads  a statement from the Ministry of Economy.

In this context, the authorities reiterate the message that there is no reason to panic in this regard and there is no risk that certain categories of products will disappear from trade.
