Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland adopted a joint Declaration condemning the war in Ukraine
During the 8th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland, a joint declaration was adopted regarding the European path of our country, the support given to the Republic of Moldova for ensuring energy independence, the implementation of Polish development projects and of investments and condemns the unprovoked and unjustified military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
According to a press release issued by the Parliament, the declaration stipulates the appreciation of the values of European integration and the demonstrated commitment of the Republic of Moldova to its European course, including after obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession, as well as to the aspirations to consolidate democracy , the rule of law and human rights.
Also, the Parliamentary Assembly expresses its support for the efforts made by the authorities in our country to reduce the negative impact on the political, social and economic life of the Republic of Moldova, caused by the war of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The document also declares the commitment and support for the continuation of joint actions for the reintegration of the Republic of Moldova, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country within its internationally recognized borders, with full respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of its citizens, the special status of minorities national, cultural and linguistic, especially in the context of holding in 2022 the Polish presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The parties also mention the importance of increasing the financial and technical support given to the Republic of Moldova for ensuring energy independence, connectivity, production, diversification and its efficiency, as well as for accelerating the identification of alternative energy sources for the Republic of Moldova.
The signatories of the declaration also condemn the unprovoked and unjustified military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and appreciate the solidarity and continuous support offered by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland to the Ukrainian refugees, emphasizing that this unacceptable war destabilizes the entire European continent, having a serious impact, in particular, on the states that share a common border with Ukraine.
The document also refers to the importance of the activity of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland for strengthening the relations of collaboration and friendship between our states at the bilateral and multilateral level.
It should be mentioned that the 8th Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland took place on Monday, November 7, in Chisinau. The 7th session of the Assembly took place between December 5-8, 2021, in Warsaw. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland was established in July 2011.
