Maia Sandu was decorated with the highest distinction of the Lithuanian state (VIDEO)
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, was decorated by the President of Lithuania with the Order of Vytautas the Great with the Golden Chain, for her personal contribution in promoting democratic values, European integration and the development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and Lithuania.
The order was established in 1930 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas the Great. It may be conferred on the Heads of Lithuania and foreign States, as well as on their nationals, for special services rendered to the State of Lithuania.
Earlier, the Order was granted to 32 other people, including the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
