Mayor Ion Ceban launches the National Alternative Movement

The mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, announces that he is launching the National Alternative Movement. The mayor criticized the actions of the current government, noting that there is currently no "force to defend the interests of citizens." The statements were made during a press conference held on the morning of December 30.

"Whatever decision I make, I will come before you and tell you about the plans that follow. I know that everyone is waiting for an alternative that will unite everyone, build a future, take care of people, first and foremost, and their interests. An alternative to work done, not empty words and forgotten promises. I can't remain indifferent and I care about what happens," said Ceban.

The deputy prime minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu reacted to the mayor's statements.

"I thought that on the eve of the New Year it is time to launch the Alternative Movement for Chisinau. The alternative for Chisinau will be dealing with the traffic jam, the snow removal of the streets, the fight with the real estate mafia, support for housing associations and yes, more SmartCity," wrote Spinu.

Ion Ceban has been mayor of Chisinau since 2019, after winning the election in front of his opponent Andrei Nastase, advanced by the ACUM Bloc.
