Vlad Turcanu resigns as president and member of the Romanian People's Party
The president of the Romanian People's Party, Vlad Turcanu, leaves the leadership of the formation and renounces the membership. The decision comes "as a result of the differences in vision regarding how the Romanian political pole should be strengthened in the Republic of Moldova," IPN reports.
"While my colleagues were attracted by the offer of the Liberal Party, I opt for the collaboration with the team of Octavian Ţîcu and Viorel Iordăchescu, whom I have known for a long time and with whom I share the same political views and, if you wish, the same ideology,” said Vlad Turcanu.
The politician claims that his colleagues from the Romanian People's Party are attracted by the offer of the Liberal leader, Dorin Chirtoaca, so that together with the National Liberal Party, the Union Party Save Bessarabia, to strengthen the pro-Romanian force. In his opinion, "the politicians who represent these parties have nothing to prove in the Republic of Moldova, because of them it has come to the situation that those with pro-Romanian visions stay on the sidelines," said Turcanu.
Asked if he would join the National Unity Party, led by Octavian Ţîcu, Vlad Ţurcanu said he had not yet made a final decision. In the context of the presidential elections, Vlad Ţurcanu said that Octavian Ţîcu "is a candidate that should be considered.”
"I say this one year before the presidential elections, but a decisive year follows, in which we could talk more than that," believes Vlad Turcanu.
Vlad Turcanu has been elected the president of the Romanian People's Party in August this year.
