Two outbreaks of Coronavirus infection, recorded in Cahul district

The epidemiological situation caused by the spread of COVID-19 infection in Cahul district is worsening. The number of those who contract the virus is increasing, and in two localities even outbreaks of infection have been detected. Meanwhile, doctors urge citizens to comply with anti-epidemic measures and to be immunized against COVID-19, Radio Moldova reports.

"Unfortunately, the epidemiological situation is worsening. If in the last weeks of June we registered two or three cases, then in the first week of July we have seven or nine cases of infection. The population ignores all the requirements and advice of doctors regarding wearing a mask, respecting the distance ", said the epidemiologist of the district, Nicolae Gaisan.

According to the epidemiologist, outbreaks of infection were registered in two localities in the district. These are the town of Cahul and the village of Găvănoasa.

"People gathered and had different holidays. In Găvănoasa – christening party in Cahul -  farewell party. Being an infected person, he soon infected the others. "

In this context, Nicolae Gaisan urged the population to respect the measures imposed by the authorities in order to stop the spread of the infection, including keeping their distance and wearing a mask. At the same time, the epidemiologist from Cahul urged the citizens to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus.

According to the latest information presented by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the balance of COVID-19 cases in our country reached 257,272. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the Republic of Moldova, 6,205 people died due to the complications caused by COVID-19.
