A decision taken by the local authorities from Bobeica, Hincesti, upset the public opinion
It sparked a huge wave of outrage. The decision taken by the councilors of Bobeica village, Hânceşti district, for the homeless animals, dogs or cats, to be shot, provoked the revolt of several people and animal lovers. Specifically, the document provides permission to shoot homeless cats and dogs. On the other hand, the mayor of Bobeica commune, Lilian Musteaţă, claims that, according to the document, animals are allowed to be shot at least 200 meters away from the locality, reports Moldova 1.
Although the exact number of stray animals wandering in the village of Bobeica is not known, the inhabitants are disturbed by their presence and say that it happens periodically to cause them inconvenience.
According to the mayor of Bobeica commune, the decision to "numerically regulate" harmful animals and birds of prey - wolves, crows, stray cats and stray dogs, has been misinterpreted and in fact falls within the measures regulated by the Law nominated in the purpose of protecting animals in the wild.
"There were no requests from the inhabitants that we have stray dogs or stray cats in localities to attack us, but in the suburbs there the hunters said they were. Then they cause rabies and then they can spread to localities, which attack, already if they are wild, attack newborn rabbits, deer chicks, through the nest of birds. I practically don't understand why Bobeica was so high this year, because all the town halls, all the local councils receive such a decision every year for the Hunters and Fishermen Association and from all the districts of the Republic, that the law is stipulated in the whole Republic," said Lilian Mustaţă, the mayor of Bobeica commune.
Moreover, hunters will not have concrete operations for this purpose. But when hunting is allowed, if they encounter such a harmful predator on the outskirts of the village, they will have the right to use the weapon.
"Hunters do not have the right to shoot in the locality, they do not have the right to carry the weapon dismantled, i.e. assembled and removed from the holster. It must be disassembled, holstered and worn. Only after 200 meters from the periphery, they can already use the weapon," the mayor of the locality also declared.
The decision is valid during 2021 on the territory of Bobeica commune. A petition has already been posted on Facebook, already signed by more than 1,400 people, demanding the annulment of the decision taken by the Bobeica local council.
