Men could take up to 12 months of childcare leave

Paternity leave could be extended from 56 days to 12 months. At the same time, the parents could share the leave and the allowance with each other. A legislative initiative in this regard was presented by the deputies of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS).

According to the proposed changes, if the family has decided that 2 years of the 3 years of leave and allowance should be taken by one spouse and the other by another spouse - this will be possible.

There will also be a new option to capitalize on the allowance. Thus, a shorter period of childcare leave is proposed. "There are many people who would like a shorter period, so we propose to include the period of childcare leave of one year and two months, in which the allowance is 90% of the salary for the last 12 months," said PAS deputies. Currently, parents can choose to stay with the child for three years, receiving an allowance of 30% of the average salary for the last 12 months or to opt for a two-year leave, in which in the first year they receive 60% of the average salary, and in the second year - 30%.

At the same time, the legal framework will be changed so that the employee can work part-time from home or elsewhere.
