What determines the Moldovans to leave the Republic of Moldova, report
Low salaries, the desire to reunite families, the tendency to obtain international studies, are among the main causes that make Moldovans leave the country.
According to a Report of the Bureau of Migration and Asylum, in 2018 alone, the number of people who went to work or look for a job abroad exceeded 352,000, the vast majority of them being men. At the same time, most of them choose to go to the Russian Federation, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain, France, Israel or Turkey.
Regarding the number of foreigners in our country, the same study shows that at the beginning of 2019, in the Republic of Moldova, they lived over 22,000 foreigners, from over 112 states, representing 0.6% of the country’s total population.
