More security at the Moldovan-Romanian border. The inspectors from the Republic of Moldova and Romania will carry out joint activities

The operational situation at the Moldovan-Romanian border, joint patrol mechanisms, strengthening the field of surveillance and control at the state border crossing in accordance with the provisions of the Schengen Borders Code in the context of measures to prepare the Republic of Moldova for EU membership, and other aspects of bilateral cooperation were the subjects of the work agenda of the Border Police delegations from the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

According to a press release of the Border Police, the Moldovan-Romanian structures specialized in surveillance and control of the state border convened a working meeting. The parties assessed the situation at the border, especially the joint activities in managing the refugee crisis generated by the war in Ukraine, as well as the high level of interaction in combating cross-border crime.

In this context, in order to carry out the control at the common border by the targeted teams, it was reiterated the need to establish, jointly with the Romanian side, the general framework, which can be applied to persons and means of transport at the border crossing.

A special chapter of the discussions was emphasized by the representatives of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, namely, the importance of using unmanned aerial vehicles at the state border control. They mentioned that the institution is in a process of developing the aerial surveillance component and for the next period it is planned to equip the subdivisions with unmanned aerial vehicles.
