Several medical institutions in the country receive medical kits for obstetrics and gynaecology

Some 40 healthcare institutions in the Republic of Moldova will benefit from ten tons of medical kits in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. The equipment will be used both for women from the Republic of Moldova and refugees from Ukraine, during pregnancy or for medical care during childbirth, Moldova 1 reports.

Some of the equipment went to the Municipal Clinical Hospital "Gheorghe Paladi". Yearly, more than 7,000 births and 3,000 surgeries are taking place in this institution.

"This range of services is provided not only to the population of the country, but also to refugees. There were 55 calls, of which 17 births and 32 refugee women are already in the records of the institution," said Iurie Crasiuc, director of the "Gheorghe Paladi" hospital.

As reported by UNPFA, some 25,000 refugees in our country are of reproductive age. Of these, 1,700 women are pregnant and almost 600 are due in the next three months.

"These kits support the reproductive health of refugee women, but also women in Moldova. All these donated kits will be accompanied by several instructions on emergency care," said Nigina Abaszasda, representative of UNPFA Moldova.

"There are three types of first aid kits: in case of violence, for normal births, natural starting with drugs and all medical devices but also quite complex kits," said Ala Nimerenco, Minister of Health.

"These kits will help protect refugees, women and children, and will help maintain their health and dignity. They will be available free of charge in all hospitals in the country," said Kend D. Logston, US Ambassador to Moldova.

The donation was made by UNFPA and the US Government, aiming to reach 450,000 women.
