Over 80% of Moldova’s libraries upgraded under the "Novateca" program

Over 80% of libraries in Moldova have been upgraded and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies through the "Novateca" program. In all, 1500 librarians have been trained to properly use the computer and on-line services. Readers say they like now more to work in the library. They have access to the internet, can read e-books, participate in animation, robotics or learn foreign languages, Mesager reports.

Angela Zatic is one of the e-ambassadors who promotes e- services and has trained 12 librarians from Calarasi.

" Our library provides about 10 modern services, including the use of electronic services as a bridge between government and citizens", said Angela Zatic, head of the “George Munteanu” Library in Bravicea, Calarasi.

So far, 43 librarians received the title of E-ambassadors. They teach readers how to use computer and on-line services correctly.

"They have learned how to access these services with an emphasis on electronic services for citizens and business. The completion of the project is expected for February 2019", said Irina Tcaci, coordinator of the Novateca project.

The people of Bravicea are happy that the library has been upgraded and equipped with new technologies.

"I like to read books, but online is more convenient ". "I come here four days a week, if I need some information, I search the internet, then I print it." "I am retired, but I have a desire to know" " I know how to use a computer. I have a grandchild in England. I have my son in the Netherlands. I have a sister in Singerei and I talk to her”, say people.

1,000 libraries have been upgraded and 1,600 librarians were trained under “Novateca” program.
