President of the Constitutional Court Mihai Poalelungi resigns
The President of the Constitutional Court Mihai Poalelungi resigned. This was announced on the official website of the institution.
We remind that the Constitutional Court declared on June 8 unconstitutional the election of the leadership of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the voting of the new Government, and later instituted the office of acting president. After the peaceful transfer of power, the CC revised and canceled the last judgments dated 7-9 June.
According to the law, CC judges cannot be dismissed, their mandate being immune, but they can submit their resignation on their own initiative.
Mihai Poalelungi served as chairman of the Supreme Court of Justice between 2012-2018 and judge at the European Court of Human Rights of the Republic of Moldova between 2008 and 2012.
