The United Kingdom could recognize driving licenses and diplomas from the Republic of Moldova

The conditions under which our fellow citizens live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, including the recognition of driving licenses, diplomas and scientific titles of Moldovan citizens on the territory of this country, were discussed today in Chisinau by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration , Nicu Popescu, and the Minister for Europe of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Leo Docherty, reports Radio Moldova.

According to Minister Nicu Popescu, several aspects related to the social protection of our fellow citizens in the United Kingdom were discussed. It was discussed both about the recognition of some documents, which would facilitate their presence in this country, and about the liberalization of roaming tariffs.

"We also discussed certain measures that would improve the conditions in which our fellow citizens live in Great Britain. We discussed our interest in progressing towards agreements on mutual conversion of driving licenses, social protection, mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and scientific titles. We also discussed our joint preparations for the next meeting of the support platform for the Republic of Moldova, in which Great Britain is an important participant", said Nicu Popescu.

For his part, the Minister for Europe of the United Kingdom, Leo Docherty, stated that both the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova and the Agreement on Strategic Partnership, Trade and Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland bring concrete benefits to the citizens of our country.

"In April, during the conference of the platform for the support of the Republic of Moldova, Great Britain together with Romania committed to be leaders in the anti-corruption theme, and Great Britain committed to grant twelve million pounds to finance good governance over the next three years. The partnership between Great Britain and the Republic of Moldova is going very well in several directions – the defense platform, supporting independent media, energy security, supporting entrepreneurship on both banks of the Nistru River and supporting victims of gender-based violence in the Transnistrian region. We agreed that we will do more to promote stronger trade and investment ties between our countries", said the Minister for Europe of the United Kingdom, Leo Docherty, who is on a working visit to Chisinau.

We remind you that the Agreement on Strategic Partnership, Trade and Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was signed on December 24, 2020.
