World Cleaning Day, marked in Chisinau

World Cleanup Day was marked in Chisinau by a cleanup march. The action was organized by the Women's Organization of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), which argues that protecting the environment must be a way of life. The event was also attended by the Minister of Environment, Iuliana Cantaragiu, who claims that efficient waste management is a priority for the Government, reports Moldova 1.


The march started near Ismail Street, on Ştefan cel Mare Boulevard, to the Grand National Assembly Square.

The ones who impressed the passers-by the most were the students of the Technological College from the capital, who paraded in clothes made of recyclable materials. The young women say that in this way they want to prove to people that some waste can be reused.

The purpose of the event was to set a positive example to all passers-by.

According to the Minister of Environment, Iuliana Cantaragiu, the Government of the Republic of Moldova has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank for a loan of 100 million euros, money that would be implemented next year a waste management system in all regions of the country .

"We will go immediately with the construction in zone five, these are the districts: Ungheni, Călăraşi and Nisporeni. In parallel, we are making the documentation, we are preparing for area 1: Cahul Cantemir, Ceadîr-Lunga, Vulcăneşti, Taraclia, Comrat,” said Iuliana Cantaragiu.

Both metals and glass can be recycled indefinitely, and in this case we save and save natural resources.

"If we talk in numbers, we take 600 thousand tons to Ţânţăreni every day. If we implemented the garbage selection processes, then it would reach only ten percent, the rest would be sorted and directly recycled in this regard," said the vice-president of the PAS Fraction from the Chisinau Municipal Council, Zinaida Popa.

In the Republic of Moldova, there are over 3,800 garbage collectors. Some 90% of waste is deposited in landfills and only 0.3% of authorized landfills comply with environmental legislation, and half of them are unauthorized.
